Started June 2005
Many Stillington & Whitton Parish residents did not know about some of the public services, or felt that in the rural areas they were not readily available to them, so the first Roadshow was held in 2005 at the village hall with the idea of bringing the services to the people, with a fun theme.
The 2005 and 2006 roadshows were a great success so it was decided to make it a yearly event at the Playing Field so it could be bigger and better

Again the weather was not totally kind, but despite our willing volunteers having to set up tents with the old bulldog spirit in pouring rain (including our brilliant new large Marquee donated by Metabrasive and Darchem), all our participants arrived and the show 'got on the road' with another lively opening by our Wm Cassidi school choir, as the rain eased to make way for another successful day. Ben Potter put up a great display with his Birds of Prey, Alan Knights and Hayley Mckay entertained with Music and Song from our 'Stage' kindly donated from Local Haulager Graham Stephenson, the children loved the Magic Show and Balloon animals with Noel Brookes and the Fun Fair (subsidised by the Parish Council) soon became busy. Energetic Locos in Motion Morris Dancers managed to get some of the visitors including our new MP Mr Alex Cunningham to join in, and Stillingtons Mustangs danced their hearts out through the odd showers.
Once again, Pet Manias exotic Pets and the Fancy Rats were very popular giving the public a chance to handle and see snakes etc. close up, also many visitors went home with a Bird Box or 'Bat Hotel' made with supervision from the Wardens of the Forest Park, Our local Art Group had a superb exhibition of local talent also there were examples of very skilled Wood Turning
Alongside all this the Church ran a Tombola and Friends of the School with games for children, there were Jewellery and handbags also sweets and ice cream for sale, a raffle, Hunt for Winne the Poohs Bees, Name the Giraffe and Face Painting, Tristar and CAB gave advice, Billy and Nod kept the food and drinks going, the Fire Brigade showed the children their Fire Engine, while St Johns Ambulance Brigade kept a watchful eye all day. Stocktons Mayor & Mayoress, Colin & Marjorie Leckonby kindly attended and a day full of 'good community spirit' was had by all,
The roadshow committee would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who kindly donated their time and effort in participating, setting up, helping during the day and clearing up afterwards, also Adam Naisbitt for photography, it was a great day enjoyed by all and a marvellous show of Community togetherness

Not the best of weather, but better than forcasted, the show went on and was a great success despite having to cancel some of the exhibits such as exotic pets due to the chilled wind.
The Show day was opened by the Mayor Mr Paul Kirton and Wm Cassidi school choir as usual made a great start to proceedings. Ben Potter with The Birds of Prey with were a huge hit, we had Rocky with live entertainment, Various Stalls, Fairground, Face Painting, children were helped to make Bird Boxes while Billy, Nod, Sue and Bob kept the food and drinks flowing, What a good day. A Big Thanks from the Committe to all who volunteered and took part making the day go so well.
